Abstract

At a critical magnetic field certain dipole arrays surprisingly switch from full to half-alignment. The result is explicable by mutual inductance calculations for expanding current-loopdipoles. A known triangular lattice configuration becomes energetically unfavourable as its loops expand and nearly touch. Mutual inductance plunges negatively as opposed current-elements near the touching point.
