Abstract

AbstractA light optical image reconstruction apparatus, especially designed for optical filtering of high resolution phase contrast electron micrographs, is described. According to theory, in the case of pure weak phase objects such a subsequent light optical filtering of the micrographs using coherent light is equivalent to filtering in the back focal plane of the electron microscope objective lens. The effectiveness and the reliability of the apparatus was tested by reconstruction experiments using several types of filters including zone correction plates.
