Abstract

Abstract Bromophos (0,0-dimethyl-0-2,5-dichloro-4-bromophenyl-thionophosphate) was tested on cotton in the Republic of the Sudan. Insecticidal tests showed good efficacy against Empoasca lybica, Bemisia tabaci, and Heliothis armigera. Comparisons with endrin, dimethoate/DDT, endrin/DDT, dimethoate/bromophos showed the good insecticidal effect of bromophos. Best yields were obtained by bromophos/dimethoate mixture, followed by endrin and bromophos with no significant difference and dimethoate/DDT. Logarithmic experiments on Lambert cotton showed no damage caused by bromophos, whereas carbaryl and fenchlorphos proved to be toxic to this cotton variety.
