Abstract

The action of sodium hypobromite on 1-hydroxypyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acids results in rapid evolution of carbon dioxide and formation of Δ1-pyrroline 1-oxides. Oxidations of Δ1-pyrrolinecarboxylic acid 1-oxides and a 2-methylpyrroline 1-oxide have also been studied.
