Abstract

ABSTRACT In this study, with an aim to develop a proper effectiveness-NTU relationship of an enthalpy exchanger having a diagonal flow configuration, heat and moisture transfer experiments were conducted. Test samples having a range of diagonal angles were tested, and the effectiveness ratios between the diagonal flow and the cross-flow configuration were obtained as a function of the diagonal angle. Developed correlations of the heat, moisture, and enthalpy predicted the data within 3%. Furthermore, it was shown that the moisture transfer effectiveness was highly dependent on the relative humidity and the air temperature.
