Abstract

Experimental investigation of a single-bed rapid pressure swing adsorption process, packed with 5A zeolite to enrich oxygen from air, employing a three-step cycle (feed, delay and exhaust) and a product delivery tank was performed. The existence of an optimal adsorbent particle size and optimal cycle time components for maximum cyclic product oxygen purity were observed. The optimal particle size increases with product flow rate and adsorbent bed length. The optimal cycle time components are nearly independent of the product flow rate, but depend on the adsorbent bed length and particle size. There also exists an optimal adsorbent bed length.
