Abstract

This paper describes an experiment for cooperative delivery having been carried out for wholesalers of machine tools located in Osaka. Recently there has been a focus of cooperative system in logistics especially for increasing transportation cost and air pollution caused by heavy road traffic in urban areas of Japan. However, such a system is not as popular as expected for several reasons. In this context we conducted in 1994 the experimentally cooperative delivery between Osaka and Kobe for about one week.We also present here the result of a questionnaire followed by the experiment which asked issues on logistics to the wholesalers.
