Abstract

Abstract Variations in experimental parameters in recycling chromatography have been investigated. The effects of column length, column outlet pressure, support mesh size, carrier gas flow rate, and capacity ratio on the maximum number of cycles have been determined for a single component. The maximum number of cycles was obtained under conditions which minimized effects of gas compressibility. These conditions also caused the number of theoretical plates to increase linearly with cycle number for a larger fraction of the time before the sample overflowed the volume of one column.
