Abstract

This paper presents the first experimental validation of a Harmonic State-Space (HSS) model. The HSS framework is capable of capturing the transient evolution of harmonics as well as their steady-state, and the frequency cross-coupling nature of power electronic circuits is fully represented. The HSS requires non-linear power electronic circuits to be linearised around an operating point in the harmonic domain through small-signal approximation. This modelling approach converts a non-linear time-varying system into a linear time-invariant system. An HSS model of a 6-pulse thyristor based rectifier has been coded in MATLAB and validated against results from an experimental setup. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
