Abstract

In a previous paper, one of the authors suggested an analytical method for calculation of the response function of an alpha spectrometer for the case of large solid angles. This paper describes the experimental verification of the method. Spectra of a well-known natural uranium sample were measured with a 450 mm 2 Si detector and compared to the theoretical predictions. The measurements were carried out with two different geometrical configurations. In both cases a good agreement was observed between experimental and theoretical results.
