Abstract
The Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule gives a prediction for the integral over the spin structure function g 1( x) of the proton at the real photon point ( Q 2 = 0). The experimental test of the sum rule will be performed at the electron accelerators MAMI in Mainz and ELSA in Bonn.
