Abstract

The utilization of polarization measurements in detecting Regge cuts was discussed. The general case of bosonnucleon scattering was considered. It was assumed that the important contributions to the scattering amplitude were the Pomeranchuk trajectory, the next nearest pole trajectory, and the cut associated with the unitarity iteration of the Pomeranchuk trajectory. From polarization formulas a test to determine whether a singularity is a pole or a cut is derived. The test depends only on the width of the forward peak in the differential cross section. Nucleonnucleon and meson( pi )-proton scattering were also discussed. (C.E.S.)
