Abstract

Material ultrasonic performance parameters are the basic data of ultrasonic testing, but there is little research on ultrasonic performance parameters in gun barrel ultrasonic testing because it is difficult to obtain and process gun barrel steel. In the ultrasonic damage test and simulation of gun barrel, 45# steel and other steel which is easy to obtain and process are used instead of gun barrel steel for testing. Due to different materials, the feasibility of 45# steel instead of gun barrel steel in the experiment remains to be verified. In this paper, the ultrasonic testing system is used to measure the sound velocity, attenuation coefficient and nonlinear coefficient of gun barrel steel and 45# steel, the microstructure and grain size of gun barrel steel and 45# steel are measured, in order to compare the ultrasonic properties of the two materials. The results show that the gun barrel steel used in this paper has the same ultrasonic longitudinal wave velocity and attenuation coefficient as 45# steel in the field of linear ultrasound, while the nonlinear coefficient of gun barrel steel is slightly higher than that of 45# steel. It is proved that using 45# steel instead of gun barrel steel in the experiment is feasible.
