Abstract

Solar power tower is an important high-rise structure in a solar power generation station, which is characterized by large height (more than 200 m), concentrated mass at the top of the structure and large stiffness mutation between the lower part and upper part. Thus, the seismic response of the solar power tower is huge and complex. In this paper, based on the 1:18 scale model structure with TMD (tuned mass damper) system, the seismic performance test of the solar power tower was carried out. The control effect of the TMD system on the seismic responses of the model structure under the action of the earthquake was studied. The results show that the TMD system fails to achieve an obvious and stable energy dissipation effect on the seismic response of the model under earthquake action. It is recommended to use the MTMD system for energy dissipation of the solar power tower structure.
