Abstract

Based on low cyclic loading experimental study on the seismic behavior of 3 high-strength reinforced concrete (HSRC) Rectangular Short columns with high axial compression ratios, high-strength longitudinal reinforcements and transverse reinforcements, their failure mechanism, hysteretic behavior were discussed. The effects of axial compression ratios, transverse reinforcement strength on the hysteretic curves, skeleton curves, rigidity, bearing capacity and ductility of specimens were analyzed. The main results are as follows: HRB400 high strength stirrups are effective to improve the seismic capacity of high strength concrete short columns. On the same conditions of the longitudinal reinforcements ratio, the shear span ratio and transverse reinforcement strength, using high-strength transverse reinforcement can effectively improve the ductility indexes, energy performance and seismic behavior of concrete short columns under high axial compression ratio.
