Abstract

A method for judging the locations of dynamic stable zones boundaries and mode separations is presented by spherical aberration “transient variation” Experiments on spherical aberration in dynamic stable zones of an end-pumped laser are carried out. Based on the inversion of the wavefront information, the “beam quality deterioration zone” is investigated. The multiple relationships among the thermal focal length of the low-order modes are calculated. Based on the discussion of experimental results, the changing law of the sign of spherical aberration is studied. A theoretical model of the relation among the cavity configuration, spherical aberration and beam quality can be established in addition. The experimental results agree well with the theory.
