Abstract

The smoke density and gas concentration of FXL aviation cable material were carried out by cone calorimeter, and the smoke production rate (SPR), specific extinction area (SEA), heat release rate (HRR), total smoke production (TSP), smoke parameters (SP), O 2 , CO and CO 2 of gas concentrations were measured respectively. In addition, smoke parameters and toxicity of aviation cables were evaluated according to the experimental results. The experimental results showed that, under the radiation condition of 40-60kW /m2, the SPR of mode 1 and mode2 increased first and then decreased, the TSP were almost unchanged, while the SPR of mode3 and mode4 presented a double-peak phenomenon, and the TSP increased slightly with the radiation intensity. With the increase of radiation intensity, the SEA and SP of mode 1–4 both increased firstly and then declined slowly. and the peak value of them was the largest under the radiation intensity of 50 kW/m2. In addition, the SEA and SP of mode 1 were the smallest, while mode 4 those of were the largest. The CO volumetric concentration of mode 1–4 increased slowly and then decreased with the radiation time. The volumetric concentration of O 2 and CO 2 varied inversely, and the peak time was approximately 20 seconds apart. In addition, under the radiation condition of 40–60 kW/m2, the peak volume concentration of O 2 , CO and CO 2 gradually increased while the corresponding peak-time decreased. The experimental results revealed the smoke characteristics of aviation cable materials under different thermal radiation, and provide data reference for ensuring the safe operation of civil aviation.
