Abstract

In this paper, a new method for rapid oscillation suppression using phase delay motion of the movable pivot is designed. The pivot’s continuous motion control with a lagging phase difference is realized by taking the pendulum’s time delay angle as an input. Based on the intermittent motion control method, the pivot’s continuous motion is used as an auxiliary motion path to trigger the pivot’s intermittent action lagging behind the pendulum motion. The effects of time delay difference and pivot movement distance on the suppression efficiency are analyzed by setting up an experimental device. The principle of the pivot motion with time delay difference to suppress the oscillation is described. Moreover, the energy absorption factor is proposed to evaluate the quality of control methods. The effects of intermittent motion time and suppression efficiency are discussed. The proposed method can provide a practical, theoretical reference on rapid oscillation suppression of pendulum structure.
