Abstract

ABSTRACT Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is the most accepted non-contact machining process for machining of newly developed materials, but due to its poor machining quality and productivity, numerous researchers are working hard to modify the machining quality of EDM by using the hybridisation concept. This work is focused on the indigenous development of rotating Magnetic Force-assisted Powder-mixed EDM (MFPEDM) and study the surface quality of Aluminium Titanium Di-boride (Al-Ti-B2) on developed hybrid EDM using One Factor At a Time (OFAT) approach also observed the impact of machining parameters such as Pulse ON-time (Ton), Pulse OFF-Time (Toff), Current (I), and Powder Concentration (PC) on surface roughness. The value of surface roughness obtained by this hybrid set-up has been compared with machining on conventional EDM. The considerable improvement in the roughness value has been recorded by comparison of the machined surfaces obtained by machining on MFPEDM than conventional EDM.
