Abstract

The main purpose of our research is to build a security system that checks the possession of dangerous materials using millimeter-wave radar with a small number of elements, and to realize 3D imaging without stopping the flow of people at low cost. In a previous study, SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) was used for high-definition 3D imaging [2]. However, this approach takes a long time in scanning to realize large virtual aperture. In this paper, we show that 3D imaging can be performed in a short time and with a small number of real elements by using MIMO arrays arranged in a two-dimensional plane. We also evaluate the spatial resolution of the 2D-MIMO array.
