Abstract

The mechanical properties and optimum vulcanization times are measured for various rubbers used in the 11.00 R20 S815 all-steel radial tire. Results show the optimum vulcanization time of various rubbers differ a lot from each other, with distinctively different start and ending time of tyre curing process and the duration of the optimum vulcanization stage. The difference, however, are beneficial to the uniformity of the vulcanization degree of tire. The rubbers have best mechanical properties at or near the optimum vulcanization area, while showing weaker properties at under-vulcanization or over-vulcanization stage. The HTME rubber used in tyre tread has minimum abrasion volume under optimum vulcanization stage, while giving increased abrasion volume data under shortened or enlengthened vulcanization time.
