Abstract

A series of experiments is performed to investigate turbulent flow field around finite length blunt plates with aspect ratios 4, 5, 6, and 9. Measurements is made using single hot-wire probe for various free stream turbulence intensity and air velocities in a low speed wind tunnel. Mean flow velocity, root-mean square values of turbulent fluctuation around the plate as well as for positions very close to the plate for each condition is determined and plotted. Also effect of plate aspect ratio and free stream turbulent intensity on the flow recirculation, reattachment point and redevelopment boundary layer downstream from the leading edge is determined and results are compared and discussed with both previous numerical and experimental studies in various illustrations and the knowledge of fluid dynamic around such finite blunt plates is extended.
