Abstract

In this study, a new type of vibration-assisted metal powder injection molding (MIM) machine is introduced, including its principle, structure, and application. The effects of the vibration amplitude and vibration frequency on cavity pressure are discussed in detail. The results show that at the same injection velocity (28.27 cm3/s) the maximum cavity pressure at different radial position decreases with the increase in amplitude/frequency when the vibration frequency/amplitude is fixed. The maximum cavity pressure at r 1/4 15 mm decreased 22.3% with the increase of vibration amplitude from 0 to 0.4 mm at fixed frequency 5 Hz. The maximum cavity pressure at r 1/4 20 mm decreased 21% as the vibration frequency increased from 0 to 20 Hz at fixed vibration amplitude 0.25 mm.
