Abstract
ABSTRACT In order to investigate the influence of water content on spontaneous combustion characteristics of coal containing pyrite, the Thermogravimetric analysis (TG), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) was carried out. The XRD results reveal high pyrite in the Yangquan anthracite. The water loss end temperature and initial reaction temperature increased, with the interval between them decreasing, and the maximum weight loss rate temperature declined as the water content increased. The activation energy reduced, and the mechanism function of coal sample changed from chemical reaction to chemical reaction of the third order after adding water. The heat release value increased by 14.4%in sample YQ4 compared with sample YQ1. Combustion produced mainly SO2, CO2 and H2O, with SO2 as the primary gas. Gas generation curves were partially interlaced.
