Abstract

In this paper, the buckling performance of the double-layer cylindrical structure with different layers of materials under uniform axial pressure is studied. Three identical double-layer and single-layer cylindrical thin shells are fabricated, measured, and tested respectively. The results indicate that the average ultimate strength of the double-layer cylinder is about 1.91 times that of the single-layer cylinder.
