Experimental study of sound velocity in some liquid hydrocarbons of the ethylene series within a wide range of pressures and temperatures

Abstract

Measurements were conducted in the impulse ultrasonic installation [1] which was somewhat iraproved and adapted for the measurement of sound velocity under pressure up to 1200 kgf/em 2 at the frequency 2 MHz. The temperature was measured with a platinum resistance thermometer with an accuracy of :~0.05~ A Ts-16 thermostat was employed. The pressure in the autoclave was produced using an MP2500 standard dead-weight piston manometer, of accuracy class 0.05. The error in measuring the velocity of sound in our installation did not exceed ~:2 m/sec.
