Abstract

Based on the experimental test, the carrying capacity of four-point-supported laminated glass panels subjected to concentrated load is studied. Tests on laminated glass panels of equal glass layers and laminated glass panels of the thinker bottom layer with protuberant connectors under lateral concentrated loading are executed. The stresses and deflections of specimens are measured. The experiments show that both the maximum deflection of glass panels and the compressive stresses of the top layer are increasing nonlinearly with lateral load. The maximum tension stress occurs at the center of the bottom layer, and the stress is linearly related with lateral load. The research can provide some references for improving design of point-supported laminated glass panels.
