Abstract

The multi-mode dynamics of pulsed magnetic field gyrotron due to excitation of different modes at the fronts of high voltage pulse was investigated. Detailed and accurate measurements of start-up scenario and excitation of the operating and spurious modes in the 0.5 THz pulsed magnetic field gyrotron were made for the first time. The performed numerical simulations of multi-mode dynamics of the gyrotron showed a good qualitative agreement with the experimental results. The presented information looks useful for future development of high frequency pulsed gyrotrons.
