Abstract
Abstract : The report presents the background and results of an experimental study focusing on human factors aspects of adpative computer aiding. Included are (1) a rationale for shared decision and control, (2) a description of the adaptive aiding computer program and task simulation developed for the experimental study, (3) the experimental design, procedure, and measurement techniques along with a discussion of the results, and (4) the development and testing of a program providing on-line estimation of operator utilities for his own and machine control.
