Abstract

Response of boundary layer at the blunt nose plate to the wake behind the wire placed normal to the leading edge was studied experimentally. Three regimes of wake/boundary layer interaction distinguished by spanwise disturbances distribution and their downstream development were observed. Particulary, non symmetric response of boundary layer to high velocity deficit symmetric wake has been discovered. It was shown that wake vorticity field deformation by the flow around the leading edge plays decisive role in streamwise vortices formation above the boundary layer and boundary layer distortion.
