Abstract
This paper focuses on the study of a glow discharge generated from a mixture of ethanol (C 2 H 6 O) and helium (He). Plasma was generated at different concentrations of C 2 H 6 O and He gases maintained at a total pressure of 2 torr. We used optical emission spectroscopy (OES) to analyze the discharge mixture at different concentrations of He. The species identified by the OES technique correspond to O 2 , CO + , CO, H β , H α , and He. A single Langmuir probe was used to obtain the electron temperature (Te) and electron density (ne). Te was found to be below 1.2 eV and ne in the order of 1010 particles per cm 3 .
