Abstract

We study experimentally the nonadiabatic electron gun which is operated in the regime of current limitation by the space charge and designed to form helical beams in gyroresonance devices. The obtained results confirm the conclusion of the earlier theoretical studies, namely, that in the case of a strong beam current, the values of the pitch factor and the velocity spread of electrons can be improved significantly compared with the conventional adiabatic systems.
