Abstract

The solid–liquid equilibrium (SLE) phase diagram for the ternary systems of (water + cobalt nitrate + manganese nitrate) was experimentally determined via a method based on conductivity measurements under atmospheric pressure. Three isotherms were established at 20 °C, 0 °C and −15 °C. The characterization of solid phases formed in the three isotherms was conducted using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), and was confirmed using chemical analysis. Three stable solid phases were identified in these isotherms are: ice, manganese nitrate hexahydrate Mn(NO3)2·6H2O and Cobalt nitrate hexahydrate Co(NO3)2·6H2O.
