Abstract

Superalloy GH4169 possesses excellent high temperature strength, thermal stability, and thermal fatigue, and is widely used in aerospace and other fields. However, it is a typical difficult-to-cut material owing to its poor thermal conductivity, high plastic toughness, severe workpiece hardening, and difficult chip breaking. In this study, high pressure cooling was used for GH4169 cutting test. The effects of high pressure cooling on the cutting force, chip morphology, and tool wear were analyzed, which can provide technical support to achieve high efficiency turning of GH4169.
