Abstract
This program for teaching geometry in the elementary grades had its beginning in t he spring of I H58 when an iuformal experiment was conducted in the teaching of geometry in a first grade class. At that time the class received a geometry lesson lasting about twenty minutes each sc hool clay—usually in the early mornings. This first experiment lasted about two months. The material presented was based on Euclid's Elements but wa presented, of course, in a considerably modified manner.
