Abstract

The various experimental methods used in studying spontaneous and low-energy nuclear fission in order to determine the fragment kinetic energy, mass, charge, excitation energy, and spin are reviewed. Special attention is paid to the description of a new approach to the study of fission based on the spectrometry of multiple prompt fission γ rays. Some new data on the spontaneous fission of 252 Cf obtained using this approach are presented.
