Abstract

The light-emitting diode (LED) lamp has been widely used in Algeria in recent years for a lighting system because of its low power consumption and high efficiency. However, LED lamps are nonlinear loads that cause harmonic distortion and electromagnetic interference in the power system. In this study, the experimental measurements of 4 LEDs Lamps sold in the Algerian market, the first is a good quality local lamp and the second is an Asian lamp of average quality and cheap with powers of 12 W, 13 W, 15 W. We used these lamps in order to measure the rate of harmonic distortion and the electromagnetic interference in common mode and differential mode. The aim of this work is to quantify the impact of variation the power and the brand of LED lamp on the THD and the power factor K at low frequency and also, electromagnetic interference in common and differential mode at high frequency.
