Abstract

The scope for non-traditional machining process has expanded widely owing to improved functionality requirements of the various materials in high technology applications. Aluminium-Titanium di boride metal matrix composite is a one class of light weight and hard material used in a high corrosion resistance application. The present study deals with Wire Electrochemical Machining (WECM) of Aluminium-Titanium di-boride composite. Machining parameters such as voltage, electrolyte concentration and NaCl electrolyte flow rate at constant feed rate were varied to study on the material removal rate, surface roughness and radial overcut. Electrolyte concentration about 15% exhibited high MRR irrespective to the% of reinforcement.
