Abstract

The paper presents investigations on the behaviour of a liquid film formed by impinging a gas-liquid spray jet vertically down onto a flat horizontal surface. Investigations were designed to measure the film thickness with the application of a flush-mounted conductance probe. The performed experiments show that with impinging the gas-liquid jet vertically down onto a flat horizontal surface, the film thickness is usually lower than 10 −4 m, reaching the lowest value at the impinging point. Next, it grows visibly in the impinging area and, further, remains constant up to the hydraulic jump.
