Abstract

The experiment aims to study the tribological properties of PTFE composite with graphite filler as additive. The specimens are prepared with the concept of Powder metallurgy, varying the percentage of additive material. Four different specimens with variation in percentage of additive is prepared for the purpose of experimentation. The technique of taguchi orthogonal array is involved in design of experiments. Tribological tests were conducted by varying the load and Disc speed while sliding distance was maintained constant. Pin on Disc tribometer was employed to conduct the wear tests. The effect of filler content, load, wear on its tribological properties was observed in this study through ANOVA. Experimentation on specimens reveal that 24% graphite added to PTFE composite had less susceptibility to wear. The most influencing input parameter on tribological properties are observed to be filler content. The experiment aims to study the tribological properties of PTFE composite with graphite filler as additive.
