Abstract

A concept of pore entropy based on the concept of Boltzmann entropy was proposed first. The changes in soil porosity and pore entropy before and after liquefaction were investigated to explore the microscopic change in the liquefied soil. Then the influence factors on the liquefaction were examined using SEM image. The results reveal that the precision error of 1000 threshold is 0.007% compared with 10000. The quantitative characterization of soil pore through porosity and pore entropy can describe the soil structure change due to liquefaction. The study provides a new perspective for clarifying the mechanism of soil liquefaction.
