Abstract
This paper deals with the possibility of using Eco sand (Dolomite silica waste) the waste material produced during the manufacturing of cement, which is available in abundance in India, in all the cement manufacturing units. The replacement of sand by eco sand in cement concrete roads helps us to dispose the material and also help us to achieve better compressive and flexural strength. In this experimental investigation Eco sand has been replaced 100% instead of river sand in M20, M30 and M40 mixes. The fresh concrete preference using slump test and the performance of hardened concrete in compression and tension are observed. The research finding with 100% replacement of Eco sand gives better workability with increase in water cement ratio. The result observed from flexural strength and compressive strength indicate that for the low grade of concrete namely M20 and M30 the strength gain was good compared to M40 higher grade. With the increasing demand for sand the replacement with 100% of Eco sand shall be accepted with limiting conditions.
