Abstract

In this study, the performance of single slope solar stills was investigated experimentally. The male tree flowers powder of Borassus Flabellifer was prepared and incorporated in the copper absorber basin of solar still. The average size of male tree flowers powder was 65 μm. The freshwater yield for Solar Still with Palm Flower Powder (SSPFP) was 3530 mL/m2 on day 1 and 4120 mL/m2on day 2, whereas for Conventional Solar Still (CSS) it was 2600 mL/m2 on day 1 and 3100 mL/m2 on day 2. The micro-sized male palm flower powder in the solar still enhanced the productivity of freshwater by 35% on day 1 and 33% on day 2 when compared to CSS.
