Abstract

In the current study, concrete of M60 grade is used for both Normal Concrete (NC) and Geopolymer Concrete (GPC). Optimum mix design values for GPC are obtained by trial and error method as per Rangan’s method. Concrete specimens, such as cube, cylinder, and prism, are casted as per optimum mix design values and are tested for mechanical properties namely compressive strength, flexural strength, and split tensile strength at the age of 7, 14, and 28 days. Comparative analysis of NC and GPC is done for aforementioned strength test results. Later behaviour of GPC is checked at elevated temperatures of 200°C, 300°C, and 400°C. From the results, it is observed that GPC performed well in terms of all mechanical properties compared to NC. An overall observation confirms that GPC performed better at higher temperatures. Thus, it is effectively proved that GPC is best alternative to NC.
