Abstract

Majority of world population solely relies on LPG cooktops for regular cooking processes. Even though induction and electric cooking gaining worldwide focus but still LPG is considered as most feasible and economical way for each level of society. This experimental work includes a generalized survey of household kitchens which shows that variety of utensils having different size and shape are used for same cooking activity on daily basis viz. heating of milk, cooking vegetables etc. When the thermal performance of this utensils has been checked for specific cooking activity it is found that each utensil performs differently for same cooking process. This results in wastage of gas as well as heat loss. A detail analysis of this household kitchen utensils had done, WBT test was carried out on each utensil and their heat transfer behavior are plotted against common geometric parameters. Finally, most energy efficient cooking utensil out of total utensils has been recommended based on empirical results.
