Abstract

Articulated concrete block mattress (ACB Mats) revetment on coastal embankment are an alternative for the unit armours that have higher implementation speed and less construction cost. Considering the fact that there are no relations to exactly design ACB Mat to estimate wave reflection and overtopping processes, further studies seem necessary. Therefore, the present research attempts to present designing relations for wave reflection and overtopping in ACB Mat revetments with granular and geo-textile filters by the use of appropriate experimental equipment. According to the research results, the maximum reflection coefficient (Cr) for ACB Mat for geo-textile filter is 0.57. The relative wave overtopping discharge is decreased by increasing the relative freeboard. It should be noted that geo-textile filter has a significant effect on hydrodynamic parameters of ACB Mat. Roughness influence factor for ACB Mat with granular filter and geo-textile filter will be (γf = 0.47) and (γf = 0.56), respectively.
