Abstract

The authors report experimental results on the increase of the spin packet width Delta h of an inhomogeneous resonance line caused by cross-relaxation processes with an adjacent resonance. The measurements of Delta h were carried out in a dilute ruby sample (Cr3+:Al2O3) by a new method based on the detection of the saturation transient. The increase of Delta h, experimentally observed near a cross-relaxation resonance, is so large that the whole line may be considered as homogeneously broadened.
