Abstract

The distributions which are necessary for the identification of the mechanism of the 12C( π −, π −p) 11B reaction were obtained: residual nucleus excitation energy and momenta spectra, angular distribution of the residual nuclei. Treiman-Yang angle distribution. π − meson momentum distribution at fixed angle, distributions of invariant mass of the π −p system and of the angle between π-meson and proton. The 12C proton width was determined and compared with the same quantity obtained from other reactions. It was concluded that the pole mechanism dominates only in the region of recoil momenta ⩽ 130 MeV/ c.
