Abstract

In order to maintain the high system energy efficiency, the heat imbalance problem in soil around the ground heat exchangers (GHE) should be avoid for the hybrid ground coupled heat pump (HGCHP) technology by rejecting the unbalanced heat through the supplemental heat rejecter. Since cooling towers are normally used as supplemental heat rejecters of the HGCHP system and few detailed experimental results are reported, the cooling performance of HGCHP system with cooling tower services as supplemental heat rejecter is investigated with experimental method in this study. A HGCHP system test rig with comprehensive data acquisition equipment is reported, and detailed on-site experiments on this test rig operated with different control strategies for cooling provision is carried out. Based on investigation, the optimal control strategy and control parameter for cooling provision is proposed by comparing the practical operation performance of the HGCHP system.
