Abstract

The Automotive industry has witnessed major growth in use of fiberglass reinforced polymers. One such area of application is the composite leaf springs. Leaf springs are used in suspension systems for vehicles. Currently the ideal choice is the multiple laminated leaf steel springs. The aim is to compare a mono composite leaf spring with a steel leaf spring for different test conditions. Physical testing is carried out for two different samples 60% epoxy40% E-fibreglass and 50% epoxy - 50% E-fibreglass, both prepared in the laboratory. The study gives a comparative analysis between the composite leaf spring and steel leaf spring based on physical properties.
